Tracy McGrady ‘s NBA career is over, by his own volition on August 26, 2013.
McGrady signed with the San Antonio Spurs in April after working his way back from injuries but never got on the floor for a team that made a run to the Finals.
McGrady told "First Take" that he still thinks he can play and was disappointed not to get a chance to help San Antonio.
"It's been 16 years playing the game I love. I've had a great run, but it's time for it to come to an end," McGrady said on ESPN's "First Take."
He did say he was leaving the door open to opportunities in China, but said he was done playing bit parts on NBA teams

McGrady called Dennis Rodman’s recent statement that James would have been an “average” player in the 1990s “a little overboard,” calling LeBron “one of the most gifted athletes that we’ve ever seen in our game, any era.”
It was only natural that McGrady would be asked about the LeBron-Jordan debate, because his career spanned both eras and he himself was once considered one of the best players in the world, before injuries robbed him of his athleticism.
James is already one of the greatest players ever. He should be appreciated as that, on his own terms, rather than being constantly held to standards that are irrelevant to him.

McGrady became the first player in more than four years to eclipse 60 points, going for a staggering 62 as the Orlando Magic posted a 108-99 victory over the Washington Wizards.
The NBA's scoring leader and defending scoring champion, McGrady became the first player to score 60 in a game since Shaquille O'Neal had 61 for the Lakers on March 6, 2000, also against the Clippers. Ironically, McGrady shattered O'Neal's franchise record of 53 set April 20, 1994 vs. Minnesota.
"He was knocking down shots, even out of double-teams," said Wizards coach Eddie Jordan. "He's good off the ball getting the ball and scoring, and he's good with the ball getting screen and rolls. It was just one of those nights where he had it going."
